As a Children’s Centre we provide a wide range of parenting support including:
- Behaviour advice (monthly drop in basis) – universal
- Behaviour advice (one to one via Family Support Team) – targeted via professional referral and self referral)
- Facilitate ‘Strengthening Families, Strengthening communities’ – universal
- ‘Keep the TV Nanny Away’ behaviour and positive parenting – universal and targeted via professional referral and self referral
- gr8mums@haylec/c – new support group for young mothers co-facilitated by a young mother and the Health Support team – targeted to young mothers
- Facilitate a WILD young mothers group – targeted to mothers under the age of 25
- Fathers group – new in September 2007 which is a therapeutic group for fathers and male carers focussing on support fathers in their parenting role – targeted via professional referral and self referral
- Range of health advice which supports families to make positive choices in their role as a parent – universal
- Range of communication courses delivered by a SaLT e.g. Talking Tips and Learning Language and Loving It – targeted to families identified by the SaLT
The Children’s Centre offers group support, one to one support, telephone support, text support, email support, support to young parents, dads/male carer support, peer support, parent/ family support, drop in service and advice/ information/ signposting.
Intervention Levels:
- Universal - available to all children and all parents.
- Targeted - identifed need for additional support to those provided by universal services.
The services provided directly by the Children’s Centre focus on families with children up to the age of five living within the Penwith area.
